Carrara Marble

Carrara Marble
A white marble with a romantic legacy

For millennia it has been used in great works since Ancient Rome and was
a precious companion for Renaissance artists such as Michelangelo.

Its formation dates back to the Lower Jurassic (190 million years ago) when much
of the regions now corresponding to northern Tuscany were covered by a vast sea on
whose bottom was deposited calcareous sediment that gave rise to a carbonate platform.

Its formation dates back to the Lower Jurassic (190 million years ago)
when much of the regions now corresponding to northern Tuscany were
covered by a vast sea on whose bottom was deposited calcareous sediment
that gave rise to a carbonate platform.

Following the movements of the earth’s crust, the carbonate platform
emerged from the sea and became a mountain while maintaining
the original characteristics practically unchanged, except in the
region corresponding to the Apuan Alps, where strong
variations in pressure changed its crystalline structure.

The limestone thus turned into marble and the carbonate
platform, made “plastic” by the strong pressure it was subjected
to, bent more times on itself giving rise to the complex
geological structure that now forms the Apuan Alps.

We have a wide selection of Carrara marbles: statuary, calacatta,
white carrara marble and others, looking for the most
suitable material for the customer’s needs for the maximum
yield of the final project for an excellent quality/price ratio.
